SM@K- 2006SM@K September 2006 Socrates Meeting At KOGEKAKOGEKA (Katholiek Onderwijs Geel Kasterlee) is a catholic school group which consists of 8 schools, located on six campuses in Geel and Kasterlee. During several years, we work together with different partners from all over Europe in international projects. This SM@K-week will be a highlight in our project work since we can organise a whole week with scientific and cultural activities and an art exhibition ‘Garden of Eden’. In this international project week, we will welcome more then 250 pupils from all over Europe. Together with our students from Geel, they will work on the assessment of the water quality of the rivers; the human influence on nature; how to preserve nature, starting with pure water; how to treat waste water in a sustainable way; study and compare the purification methods; create environmental awareness; use new technologies to locate problem areas; to describe them; to undertake political actions by the local authorities; to develop actions to improve the water quality; create an environmental house to guarantee access to an intact nature and pure water. With all project activities that will be organised in this SM@K-week, we want to stress the fact that youngsters and adults from whole Europe work together to build a new Europe, where awareness, involvement and idealism have their place, where friendship brings youngsters together and where the preservation of nature is the common concern. We hope we will succeed in this mission!
